Meet Maggie Cook

Maggie has called Mentor home for the past 25 years with her husband, Brian, and children, Hallie, a student at Mentor High, and Willow, a 2024 graduate who now attends the University of Cincinnati.

Like so many other Mentor families, the Cooks chose this community for the excellent public schools. And as a veteran teacher with 25 years of experience, Maggie knows a good school district when she sees it.

Maggie is a licensed speech and language pathologist and works with K-12 students with special needs in Chardon Public Schools. She previously spent 17 years as a speech therapist at S.T.A.R.S, a summer camp for students with autism. With a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Thiel College and a Master of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Akron, she is well-versed in special education law and advocacy for all students.

An advocate for education in and out of the classroom, Maggie was a member of PTA for 14 years, and she is a parishioner of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.

Maggie’s unique expertise has been an asset to the Board of Education in numerous ways. She has served on multiple committees and gained experience in school finance, negotiations, and benefits plans, and she understands how to implement quality programs with accountability.
